What Is The Harm In Taking A 4th Grader Out Of School For 2 Separate Family Vacations In The Same Season?

My husband and I have differing opinions as to whether or not it’s a good idea to take our son out of school for a 2nd week this Spring to visit family in Florida. We just returned from a one-week ski vacation with the same family. We took our son out of school for the entire week. This next vacation would take place in 6 weeks, and we would have to take him out for another whole week. Neither vacation is “educational” in the traditional sense.
Our dilemma may be that my husband and I are selfish in our need to travel, and where and when we travel. We don’t want to jeopardize our son’s education but also believe that travel is a wonderful part of learning, even if it isn’t to places that people think of as educational.
Thanks for your feedback.

Where Is A Good Place For Family Vacations If You Have A College Kid?

My parents asked me to find a spot for us to go on a family vacation – and I definitly want to go to the Carribean/Bahamas/Mexico area on a cruise or to just go, but I don’t want any awkward situations. My parents are really innocent and don’t really get the partying scene – and I want them to at least think I don’t party crazy or am an alcoholic. =P
I have a tendency to attract a lot of attention (and I know latin culture is very vocal about it – but i adore mexico) but yeah.. don’t need any of that w/ the rents. I also have a 11 yr old lil brother. We’re going around christmas/new year.
Is there any place where we can all be entertained? Beaches are and absolute must (even if they are highly potential awkwardness creation areas).

Why Are Family Vacations Suddenly So Boring?

I’m 13-16 (don’t want to say my actual age) and family vacations just aren’t very fun anymore. For some reasons my parents think that all we should ever to on the weekends is go to Disney Land, which means that a lot of the time I can’t go to the beach or movies with my friends.Yeah, when I was younger I used to enjoy it. But I’m older. The thought of my parents forcing us to spend more time together at some cheesy water park or amusement park makes me annoyed. Why do you think I’m feeling this way? Also, does anyone else ever feel this way?
