“dancing Was Harder” on ‘high School Musical’ Sequel

Hype about High School Musical’s sequel is fast rising, and many can’t wait to see if could surpass the success of the first one. Rehearsals and filming of the second movie has started earlier this year, and the stars of the movie are working hard to give their best.

“We all kind of pulled out all the stops,” Monique Coleman said in a conversation with The Hartford Courant last week. “All of us coming back to this one, recommitting ourselves to the project that helped us all attain our successes, it’s an expression of gratitude to the Disney Channel for making us superstars.”

Coleman added that after the brilliant success of the first High School Musical, they are all aware that “he stakes were higher, and the bar was definitely raised” this time around.

The 26 year old actress portrays Taylor McKessie on the film, East High Science Club Leader and friend of Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Anne Hudgens). Her other television credits include The Reading Room, Boston Public, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.

22 year old Lucas Grabeel also told The Hartford Courant that this time, the musical numbers and dance moves were definitely harder than ever.

“It was a lot harder regarding technical things we do,” said Grabeel. “The dancing was harder, the music more challenging… every character is involved more.”

In the sequel of the Disney hit, Lucas Grabeel reprises his role as Ryan Evans, the slightly better half of his fraternal twin sister, Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale). His other acting credits include Boston Legal, Veronica Mars, ‘Til Death and Alice.

The first movie was more focused on the blossoming relationship between the two main characters played by Vanessa Anne Hudgens and Zac Efron. This time, however, Lucas Grabeel said that fans can expect to see more input from the other characters in the foreground in the much awaited sequel.

“The first High School Musical was much more about Troy [Zac Efron] and Gabriella — her struggling with her new school and his struggle choosing between basketball and singing,” Grabeel said. “This one is more about a group of people.”

But despite the raised expectations, the actors and actresses of the show still had a lot of fun in the creation of the sequel, Monique Coleman said.

“I think there is an idea people have about what they expect from this movie,” said Coleman. “I feel proud of the fact we didn’t fall into the trap of allowing ourselves into being pressured into anything other than having a fantastic time.”

Fans Flock to High School Musical 2 Premiere in London

As High School Musical 2 debuted in London’s O2 Arena, thousands of fans dropped in to party with the stars while watching the much awaited second installment of Disney’s made-for-TV hit movie. Fans were ready and dressed in cheerleader outfits complete with red pom-poms for the premiere of the movie. To heighten up the excitement, the stars of the TV musical were also set to appear in the venue, including Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron, for whom fans waited patiently for over an hour.

Despite their instant fame, a number of High School Musical’s cast members have managed to stay grounded, and still in shock at how devoted the fans have been to the production.

Hudgens, who was popularized by her portrayal of Gabriella Montez, finds it “kind of crazy.”

“It’s overwhelming sometimes but it’s great to be here,” admitted the 18-year-old actress. “I’d like to say to my fans that they should never give up on their dreams.”

In addition, Lucas Grabeel, who plays Ryan Evans, said, “It’s really crazy and slightly unnerving, to be honest.” The 22-year-old actor recalled his last visit to the O2 stadium for a Prince concert, where he was part of the audience.

“I was there as a fan and I felt what all these people feel being here now, it’s fantastic and so great to be part of it,” Grabeel said.

Furthermore, Monique Coleman, 26, believes that she is still the same “regular girl” she was before becoming the known actress she is today.

“I’m just me, I wake up every day and brush my teeth, for me it’s really about the fans and this moment which changes their lives,” Coleman explained. She said that aspiring actors and actresses should focus on the real goal and work hard to achieve it.

“You must realize that being a celebrity isn’t an occupational choice. You have to do something specific, don’t just go out there trying to be a celebrity because you can take your clothes off to do that,” she explained. “That’s not how we got here.”

High School Musical 2 premieres on the Disney Channel in the UK on September 21.

High School Musical 2 Wins Best Soundtrack Album at the 35th Annual American Music Awards

The High School Musical fever does not stop here as the highly successful Disney franchise has another award to add up to its string of honors. The soundtrack album of the Disney Channel Original Movie sequel was recognized by the 35th Annual American Music Awards as Best Soundtrack Album this year. The event was held last Sunday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles , California , where cast members Vanessa Anne Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale, among others, were there to receive the award.

It is the first time in the history of the American Music Awards that the winners of the 35th Annual American Music Awards were garnered from online voting. The fans of High School Musical took this opportunity to vote for their favorite soundtrack, which beat the albums of Hairspray and Dreamgirls.

High School Musical Actress’ Nude Photos Floating on the Internet

Star of Disney’s hit made-for-TV movie High School Musical, Vanessa Hudgens faces massive controversy as pictures of herself posing nude have circulated around the Internet.

A few days ago, a photograph of a naked, brunette woman who looked a lot like the 18-year-old actress spread across the Internet and made its way on various celebrity websites. Many are still skeptical about the identity of the woman in the photos, however Hudgens’ publicist confirmed through a statement that the photo authentically shows Vanessa Hudgens posing without any clothes on.

“This was a photo which was taken privately,” Hudgens’ representative said in a statement. “It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public.”

The National Enquirer’s source said that “Vanessa took some suggestive shots of herself in the buff as a surprise for [High School Musical co-star and current boyfriend] Zac Efron.”

The provocative shots reportedly show her “naked except for a gold chain around her waist.”

“She also photographed herself naked in the bathtub, blowing kisses and sensuously pulling down her bikini bottom. And she took a photo on the beach of her wearing a Zac button pinned to the top of her swimsuit,” the source added.

“Vanessa’s only 18, so she had no idea how her flirtatious act could threaten the future of the multimillion-dollar plans Disney has for the show,” the source further explained. “She just wanted to keep Zac interested.”

On the contrary, Hudgens admitted in the August 2007 issue of Teen Magazine that she takes pride in her wholesome image.

“I’m a good kid. I’ve been brought up with very good morals and I’m not going to go out and do something I don’t want other kids to do. I love being a role model because, in Hollywood, there aren’t a lot of role models to look up to. The fact that there’s a whole bunch of good kids coming out who are now stepping into the limelight, I’m very proud of that,” she said in a conversation with Teen Magazine.

High School Musical Star Soars to New Heights

High School Musical star Corbin Bleu has recently risen to a different level as he joined a number of teachers to literally go into weightlessness. Believing that science is fun and not just for geeks, the young star teamed up with The Northrop Grunman Foundation of Los Angeles to celebrate 50 years in space. As part of his participation, he joined the teachers as they lifted off the ground and conducted other experiments which were designed to test Newton’s Laws of Motions.

The teachers, along with Bleu, were taken up in a plane where they experienced no gravity. The modified plane also allowed the other passengers to move around and conduct their experiments.

“You literally can spin around and flip and do anything, like push off the wall and go flying across the room like Superman,” Blue explained to TVGuide later.

After their experience, the teachers went back to their classrooms, sharing their learnings and photos of the event with their students. The organizers of the event aimed to increase the interest in science among children, with the help of Corbin Bleu, a popular figure in that age bracket. Blue added that the organization approached him with this offer, as they believed that he was a good role model who could promote science and math to students.

In addition, TVGuide asked Blue for some tidbits on the upcoming High School Musical 3.

“It’s really going to be nice to go back for one last hurrah and then just finish up the whole High School Musical phenomenon,” he said.

Currently, there has been no script produced yet, but the basic idea will revolve around the students’ senior year at East High.

Once the final High School Musical film is over, Bleu will be looking forward to pursuing other projects that will be different than what he has done before. His upcoming film, Metal Burning, is about a teenager who supports his family, subsequently developing an interest in Motocross. Bleu also aspires to become a producer aside from being an actor.
