I’ll begin by saying I have a strong interest in IT. To explain, I have out argued my school IT teacher about the merits of different operating systems, the open source and free software (copy left and the like) foundation.
I have managed to get the grades so I can study 3 A levels at the best college in the area.
Now here comes the problem… My college does not usually (I intend to make an exception) allow students to take both computing and applied IT double award. They have suggested that I study either double award IT and another subject or computing, single award IT, and another subject.
I don’t want to study any other subject they offer, I believe that studying something just for the sake of a grade, will have a bad effect on the grades of the subject I want to take.
In all honesty, I would love to leave college knowing as much about the subject I wish to have a career in as possible. I feel that if I make either choice I will later be happy that I am studying one of the subjects I want to do, but I know I will be unhappy that I’m missing being educated in something that will really help Uni/ work life.
I really think studying anything else, would be severely less useful as studying both of my proposed subjects.
I would like people to explain what they think I should do/ and or how to convince my college that I would be better off studying both computing and double award applied IT.
Cheers
