How to study at home effectively?

I rent a room quite far from my university. Therefore, I spend most of my time reading at home and besides, the library is always crowded. I can’t seem to study at home though. There are my bed, a table, wardrobe, chairs and few boxes in my room. Maybe the color of the curtain. I don’t know. I find it hard to concentrate and study effectively. What can I do?

Also, what are some good places to study besides library? and that don’t cost a lot?

How to start studying for the MCAT?

I’m a MD hopeful. I just wanted some advice on how to start studying for the MCAT. I’m a sophomore and still need to take some physics and chemistry classes. If there is any Doctors or med school students out there, give me some advice on whether I should take a course or not.

PS I want to go to med school in Illinois preferably so Illinois specific info would be extra appreciated.
