Captiva Island, is sister to larger Sanibel Island, and is just over a small bridge which crosses at Turner Beach.  Turner Beach is a great place for catching that prize fish and also for finding the colorful shells that these islands are famous for.  The beach stretches 5 miles to the northern tip of Captiva Island at Redfish Pass.  From the bridge at Turner beach, Captiva Drive is a scenic drive past giant cactus, colorful bougainvilleas and other tropical flora along a stretch of sea and sand ending at “downtown” Captiva, which is more of a village than a town.

A truly fun vacation, holiday, memorable wedding, honeymoon or just a get-a-way awaits young and old alike on Captiva Island.

Captivating Captiva Island is the perfect place for you and your family to spend a day or two of your vacation.  With Florida’s sub tropical climate Captiva Island has sunshine all year round.  Sugary white sand beaches littered with pastel colored seashells for which the area is world renowned.  The seas are a clear Caribbean azure blue.  Play golf until your heart desires, and the fishing and boating are unequaled.  For your dining pleasure there are restaurants offering “Floridian” cuisine and from casual, funky fun to fine dining.  Shopping in the village of Captiva Island is exhilarating and you will find something for everyone.

Your visit to Captiva Island is not complete without sampling some of the local fare and succulent fresh seafood.  You will find a wide selection of ethnic foods in the area. Dine in one of the fine restaurants where chefs cook up some of the freshest, tastiest dishes you have ever tasted.  Whether you are looking to enjoy a lavish six course meal or a more casual dining scene, you will find just what you’re looking for. Bon apetit !

It is time for fun on Captiva Island.  Enjoying a sub-tropical climate and being able to be outdoors in the sunshine all year around.  There are so many activitities to choose from, fishing, golf, boating, kayaking, canoeing, tennis, swimming, bike riding.  Go boating down the waterways and view a variety of wildlife such as, dolphins, blue herons, racoons and many different species of colorful birds.  Wonderful memories for all times for everyone.

Shelling is so much fun and Captiva Island has such a variety of shells to find, just to collect and admire or use in a craft, on a mirror, lamps, boxes etc.  Captiva is one of the islands that is literarily made up of shells, created over thousands of years, and is one of the islands that is considered best in the world for shelling.  The islands geography of lying east and west rather than north and south, as most islands, allows Captiva and its sister islands to catch abundant sea shells from the Gulf of Mexico.

“Shop ’til you drop” is a motto of some island visitors.  Captiva Islands shops are clustered at the north end of Captiva Drive and on Andy Rosse Lane.  Strolling along the village paths from shop to shop, you will find antiques, casual fashions, pottery, hand painted furniture and many unique gifts for that special someone.  Then try a restaurant to have that refreshing break.

Middle School Science Projects Made Easy

In this short essay I describe an easy to follow, step by step approach to deciding on and undertaking a project for your middle school science fair. As you’ll discover, what may seem quite daunting, can actually be very educational… and a lot of fun!

The initial step is to determine the experiment for your project. While you need to consider your teacher’s expectations, I would also encourage you to opt for an experiment that demonstrates how something works, and preferably, addresses a question people have about how the world operates.

When determining the kind of project to embark upon, you may, of course, be limited by what apparatus and materials you have around. Select something that’s realistic for you to undertake – you don’t want to be wasting time assembling all the ingredients, when you could be getting your experiment underway. It’s also a good idea to choose a science project that excites – or at least, interests – you. This just makes your project more fun to work on.

To help you brainstorm some ideas, check out the following questions that you could design an experiment to address:

1. Do different brands of bubble bath produce more or fewer bubbles? What makes the bubbles in baths pop?

2. Is all mold the same – i.e. does the same kind of mold grow on old vegetables compared with old bread?

3. Does sticky tape stick to some surfaces and not to others?

4. Which has more vitamins – canned, frozen, or fresh corn?

5. What kinds of soil are necessary to grow certain kinds of grass?

6. Where do you need to water plants to ensure they grow? Compare watering near the roots with watering the leaves.

Once you’ve chosen your project, it’s time to get it underway. Ideally, take your time and work in an environment where neither you, nor your experiment, will be interrupted. In many cases, you will have an expectation of what the outcome will be. If this outcome doesn’t occur, start the experiment gain, double-checking to make sure that there are no external influences. Otherwise, perhaps you’ve found an exception to the “rule” which may be interesting in itself.

When speaking about your project, I suggest you take it slowly, and be as cool, calm and calculated as possible. If you need notes, by all means use them, but try not to read them. Start off by introducing yourself and what your project is about, then explain the process and results, concluding by discussing the implications. By all means practice your presentation in front of parents, siblings and friends, and try to work out what questions the audience is likely to ask.

As your teacher and parents have probably told you, the middle school science fair is an opportunity to explore something you don’t know, discover how remarkable our planet is, and have fun too. So be sure to choose a project you’re interested in, and try to enjoy yourself.

1980′s Cinderella Cartoon?

I remember a 1980′s cartoon, a Chinese twist of cinderella. Does anyone know the title of this cartoon or the production info? It had a fish that was magical and the stepsisters ate for dinner. She planted the bones and became Cinderella. The cartoon really brought back some childhood memories, I hope someone knows it…

Cartoon Character 1960′s Era. Dog That Ate Biscuits, went Up In The Air Then Floated Back Down To Earth?

One of my all-time favorite characters!!
It was Snuffles the Dog on Quick Draw McGraw. Whenever Quick Draw needed Snuffles to help him sniff out the trail of a bad guy, he had to first give Snuffles a treat. Snuffles would swallow the treat, hug himself, float in the air for a moment, and slowly return to earth. If Snuffles didn’t get his treat, he refused to track the bad guys.http://www.tvacres.com/dogs_cartoons_snu…

Video Games For Small Children

The natural notion these days is that a large portion of the video game buyers are comprised of the younger generation that range from the young children to those who are in their teens. However, statistical figures similarly reveal that adults are also engrossed in the purchase of the popular video games in these days.

Now in terms of the availability of the video game supplies, it likely shows that the computer games which are sold in the market vary from those of the family games, children’s games, up to those that are purely adult in content. Therefore, before allowing your small children to buy one, you must closely look at the label.

Some Common Mistakes of Parents

The reality that most anti-computer games fail to see is that the aggressiveness and even death which they oftentimes blame on the presence of the video game variants is at the same time the fault of the parents. They are not more cautious in endowing the freedom to their children when it comes to playing computer games. There is a diversity of reasons that result to the mistakes of the parents when buying video games for small children.

The first reason is that most of the parents fail to read the labels of what they buy. If only one would closely look at the cover, there is the label that specifies the age of the player and the restrictions that come abound.

The second reason is that the parents fall short of going through the guidelines. They simply give in to the request or begging of their children just so they would stop to be bothersome.

And the third reason points out to ignorance. Most parents are unaware of the amount of graphical attributes assigned to a video game variant which can include violence, bloodshed, and even death among the virtual characters.

Some Video Games for Small Children

Among the video games which can be advisable for use of the small children are the Nintendo games, Tetris, Slam Dunk, Pacman, Dora the Explorer, NBA Live, Slam Dunk, Football, and some other adventure games meant for children which don’t pertain to hostile acts like killing the opponent.

Parents in Control

There are various ways on how the parents can be in control of the video game habits of their children. Here are some significant steps to take note of.

Constantly monitor the video games played by the children. The action games typically instill violence among the children whereas there are those which promote educational learning and challenge.

Set a time limit for the game. You should be the one to tell them how long they could be in front of their computer monitors. Don’t give in to their begging or else you welcome more trouble.

Only use the video game playing for rewarding acts. When the children have executed proper behavior, then you could award an opportunity to gain access to the video game. This would further motivate them to be good at all times.

Parents should then be held responsible in the selection of the video games for their children. The chosen ones for them should not be about the hurting or killing of the opponents which could lead to the winning of the game. The character of the virtual beings usually ends up being assumed by small children. This should not be the case or else the children could exude aggressive behavior too.

Study Tips For Students of All Ages

With school started back up for the season for basically all education levels by now many of us have begun to think about all of the studying we or our children will have to do in the up coming months. But how do we or our children get the most from our studying so that it is not time spent on a useless activity. Anybody can sit down and read a textbook or notes but not everybody ahs the ability to retain that information as well as they may like to and need to in order to be successful in their education. What some people don’t realize is that the smallest interruption or the most distant distraction can seriously affect study time. There are a number of ways though that you or your child can make the most out of their study time and really make there time spent work for them.

Studying should always be done in a quiet area that will stay quiet throughout the length of the allotted study time. Although some individuals feel that they study better with background noise in many cases this is hardly the way that it is as the music is a distraction if not a conscious distraction then a sub-conscious one. Understandably it can be difficult to keep a quiet area open to one member of a large household for any length of time but if it is conceivable you could make it a quiet time for everyone. For those that do not have to study it would be a perfect time for reading a book or the newspaper. If it is not possible to have complete silence though studying should at least be done in a quiet room where the door can be closed. After switching to studying in quieter rooms you will soon see the difference in the outcome.

Studying on an empty stomach can also result in wasted time. When we are hungry our minds tend to wander from other things to our feelings of hunger which can distract studying and result in not being able to retain what we are reading. Even if you are studying before dinner that will soon be finished it is a good idea to have a small, healthy snack so as to take your mind of your stomach. Many people are amazed at how much not studying on an empty stomach improves their retention of the information.

Finally, one of the most important things to do when you’re studying to help yourself is take regular breaks, even if only for five minutes to stretch or get a drink. The reason this helps so much is because monotony tends to make our minds wander away from the task at hand which is exactly what you do not want to do when studying important information.

We all want to be successful in our education pursuits but with life’s many different aspects we can get caught up in distractions easily and often. Follow a few simple rules and you will be able to make the most from your study time.

Why Is There No Black Disney Cartoons?

This have bugged me for years. Why are there no “BLACK” Disney Cartoons? I know alot of people are probably familiar with the HBO series ” HAPPILY EVER AFTER; FAIRY TALES FOR EVERY CHILD”. It was a great series, but any kid could tell the difference in the quality of animation, it wasn’t very good, it just didn’t have a Disney budget. If only Disney felt the same way the producers of “HAPPILY EVER AFTER” did,you know, to make a FAIRY TALE FOR EVERYCHILD, well, they kinda did. Just look, they’ve made Characters of WHITES, NATIVE AMERICANS, ASIANS, EGYPTIANS, RUSSIANS ( white people) , PACIFIC ISLANDERS ( hawaiians, samoans), TOYS, BEARS, DEARS the list goes on, but they’ve never made a movie about BLACK characters. OK OK, They did try once to make a movie about AFRICA and it did great, the only thing is that there was no BLACK “PEOPLE” in it, it was LION KING. Why can’t my lil
girl see a movie about an AFRICAN PRINCESS and relate to it,
