Fans Flock to High School Musical 2 Premiere in London

Fans Flock to High School Musical 2 Premiere in London

As High School Musical 2 debuted in London’s O2 Arena, thousands of fans dropped in to party with the stars while watching the much awaited second installment of Disney’s made-for-TV hit movie. Fans were ready and dressed in cheerleader outfits complete with red pom-poms for the premiere of the movie. To heighten up the excitement, the stars of the TV musical were also set to appear in the venue, including Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron, for whom fans waited patiently for over an hour.

Despite their instant fame, a number of High School Musical’s cast members have managed to stay grounded, and still in shock at how devoted the fans have been to the production.

Hudgens, who was popularized by her portrayal of Gabriella Montez, finds it “kind of crazy.”

“It’s overwhelming sometimes but it’s great to be here,” admitted the 18-year-old actress. “I’d like to say to my fans that they should never give up on their dreams.”

In addition, Lucas Grabeel, who plays Ryan Evans, said, “It’s really crazy and slightly unnerving, to be honest.” The 22-year-old actor recalled his last visit to the O2 stadium for a Prince concert, where he was part of the audience.

“I was there as a fan and I felt what all these people feel being here now, it’s fantastic and so great to be part of it,” Grabeel said.

Furthermore, Monique Coleman, 26, believes that she is still the same “regular girl” she was before becoming the known actress she is today.

“I’m just me, I wake up every day and brush my teeth, for me it’s really about the fans and this moment which changes their lives,” Coleman explained. She said that aspiring actors and actresses should focus on the real goal and work hard to achieve it.

“You must realize that being a celebrity isn’t an occupational choice. You have to do something specific, don’t just go out there trying to be a celebrity because you can take your clothes off to do that,” she explained. “That’s not how we got here.”

High School Musical 2 premieres on the Disney Channel in the UK on September 21.

Internet Searches Reveal the Top 5 Video Games

The following is a review of the Top 5 video games searched for on the Internet.

Looking for a game? Looking for a gift for a gamer? Just curious?

Rank 1 Grand Theft Auto IV:

Grand Theft Auto IV is an upcoming sandbox-style action adventure video game. It will be the ninth title (and the first in the fourth generation) in the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise. It will be released worldwide on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game will be set in a redesigned Liberty City, based heavily on New York City and New Jersey.

Niko Bellic is Eastern European, between 28 and 32 years of age and has come to Liberty City to pursue the “American Dream”. Niko was persuaded to move to Liberty City by his cousin Roman, who claimed in multiple e-mails to Niko that he was living a fabulous life, with a mansion, women, hot tubs and sports cars. Roman’s claims turn out to be lies to hide his own failures, however, and in reality he only owns a small taxi business, which he wants Niko to work for.

Roman is the only person Niko knows in Liberty City to begin with, and is one of his major connections in the first part of the game. Niko is a tough character, whereas Roman is friendly. Roman is heavily in debt and a lot of people are after him. He desperately needs Niko’s support, hence the reason he deceived Niko into travelling to Liberty City. They are constantly bickering. It is later revealed that Niko has also been avoiding other, as yet undisclosed, problems at home. Both characters are new and there are virtually no returning players.

The game has been described as being in the same vein as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in terms of story and gameplay, with the developers referring to it as an emerging genre called “open world”; both games focus on urban gang activity, with the main character attempting to strengthen his gang’s standing amongst three other rival gangs. Saints Row makes additions to the genre, adding an extensive character customization feature and online multiplayer modes.

Rank 3 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas:

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a sandbox-style action-adventure computer and video game developed by Rockstar North. It is the third 3D game in the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise and fifth original game overall. Originally released for the PlayStation 2 in October 2004, the game has since been ported to the Xbox and Microsoft Windows, and has received wide acclaim and high sales figures on all three platforms.

Set in late 1992, the game revolves around the main character, Carl “CJ” Johnson returning home from Liberty City to Los Santos after learning of his mother’s murder. CJ finds his family and his old gang, the Grove Street Families, in disarray. Over the course of the game, CJ gradually unravels the plot behind his mother’s murder while reestablishing his gang and exploring his own business ventures.

Grand Theft Auto series is rich with controversy, the most notable for San Andreas was over the “Hot Coffee” minigame, which was disabled but left in the code, which caused San Andreas to be re-rated briefly as an adult game and pulled from shelves. Like the original Guitar Hero, the player uses a guitar-shaped peripheral to simulate the playing of rock music as notes scroll towards the player. Most of the gameplay from the original game remains intact, with new modes and note combinations being the major additions. The game features more than 40 popular licensed songs, many of them cover versions recorded for the game, spanning five decades (from the 1960s to the 2000s).

Rank 5 Mortal Kombat:

Mortal Kombat (commonly abbreviated as MK) is a popular series of fighting games made originally by Midway Manufacturing Company. Mortal Kombat began as a series of arcade games, which were picked up by Acclaim Entertainment for the home console versions. Now Midway exclusively creates home versions of Mortal Kombat. It is especially noted for its high levels of blood and gore, including, most notably, its graphic fatalities – Finishing Moves, requiring a sequence of buttons to perform. These were so extreme that they, in part, led to the founding of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) 1 Mortal Kombat is available in PS2, Xbox, Mobile and PC.

The original Mortal Kombat was developed as a reaction to the popular fighting game Street Fighter II, with digitized graphics of real game actors as opposed to animated cartoon graphics. Critics said the game’s graphic violence was only included in order to generate a public outcry and controversy that would gain publicity for the game. Although highly controversial, the mix of realism and violence propelled Mortal Kombat to widespread and historic renown.

Getting People to Believe in your Fundraising Activities

<a title=School fundraising at ProFund! Href=http://www.golfmarathonman.com/school_fundraising.html>School fundraising</a> often gets a lot of grumblers when parents bring the sign up sheet with them to work year after year. The same relatives are hit up each season, and friends of the family are bombarded. However, a more positive way to increase participation and excitement for any <a title=Fundraising activities at ProFund! Href=http://www.golfmarathonman.com/fundraising_activities.html>fundraising activities</a> should be to increase the passion for and spirit in the event, regardless of the cause.

If you are a nonprofit trying to raise money, you need to create awareness for the cause and also instill passion and desire into your donors. People are going to give money to things that they have been impacted by – such as a loved one dying of a specific disease, surviving cancer or another illness themselves or being impacted in another way by the specific cause or event. You need to reach out to people in ways they are going to understand and respond to; you need to get their empathy to get their donations.

When looking at school fundraisers increasing school spirit is a great way to start when trying to raise more money. You need and want people to be excited about your school so that they will want to invest in the students and the future of the school. Further, if students are really excited about the events they are involved in, the support they are receiving at school and the spirit of the school, they are going to be much more emphatic when talking about their fundraisers; they are going to want to sell to people because it is exciting.

Along with school spirit, you should choose events that are going to get people excited. A yearly carnival might be a great idea. It is a great way to gather the community and show off the school and the spirit of the school. Passion is contagious. If you bring people in and show them your excitement they are going to want to be a part of it. Many times people can’t help but want to get involved because of the feeling of being part of something they love.

Nothing quite beats a young child coming to the door or waiting for you outside the retail store with a big smile on their face. While you may find it gets tiring, you can’t help but feel their excitement when they tell you their story. You have to admit that you can tell when a child is excited about what they are doing and when they are unhappy to be selling.

The key to a successful fundraising campaign for any organization is going to be, not only increasing awareness, but also increasing passion and excitement for the organization, event or cause. For schools, an increase in school spirit will go a long way – not only for school morale and community participation, but also for fundraising efforts as well. Make people want to spend their money because they can’t help it. Whether through volunteer efforts or with money, you will get people to help and become a part of your organization if they believe in it. Become contagious. While this isn’t normally a good thing, it is a winning option for fundraisers no matter the cause.

Let Your Kids Go Batty This Halloween

Although there really is nothing to fear about bats, and they don’t really attack people to drink their blood nor are they blind, it’s fun to let your imagination run wild, especially around Halloween. The days are growing shorter, the air is crisp, and the leaves are dying-the perfect conditions to let your kids go batty. This year, forget the ghosts and witches and take a cue from Edgar Allan Poe and plan your Halloween party around these scary black mammals. Find everything you need for a “horror-ble” party that will drive your guests batty, from invitations, to bat crafts, to games.

Invitations
Use a white paint pen to write party details on black bat-shaped cut-outs. Glue onto orange craft paper and send out to guests.

Decorations:

·         Set the mood for your party by hanging inverted bats made out of black construction paper from trees or the entrance to your house

·         Trim the front door with bat decals or cut-outs. Add a banner with a scary saying.

·         Carve bat shapes into pumpkins and display on the front porch and inside the house. For an extra ghoulish effect, light candles and place inside the pumpkins.

·         Using black and orange ribbon, hang bat shapes from the ceiling along with black and orange balloons.

·         Make a bat banner out of construction paper

·         For your a table center decoration paint a large, bare tree branch black and attaching black construction paper or plastic bats to it.

·         Spread bat-shaped confetti on tabletops and counters.

Bat Hunt Game
Fun Halloween activtiy
Hide some toy bats or construction paper bats around the house inside or outside before guest arrive. Give each guest a paper bag and a flashlight and turn off the lights or go outside. Have guests search for the hidden bats. The person who finds the most bats is the winner. Give a small prize to the winner if desired. (Variation: You could have one special bat for guests to find, and the person who finds that bat gets a prize too.)

Owl and Bats Halloween Game
You will need either some plastic or rubber bats. There should be one less bat than the number of players. For example, if you have 6 players, use 5 bats. Before the game, color or paint a spot on the bottom of each bat. Have children sit in a circle. Put the bats, marks facing down, on the floor in the middle of the circle. Have children choose one bat. The child without the bat is the “owl.” Have the “owl” sit in the middle of the circle. The “owl” points to one child and tries to guess the color of the spot on that child’s bat. If the “owl” guesses the correct color, the child with the bat runs around the circle and the “owl” tries to catch him/her before he/she sits down at his/her spot again. If the “owl” catches the child with the bat, he/she will be a bat again. If not, the “bat” takes a turn to be the “owl.”

Party Favors
Visit your local party store or discount store, looking for inexpensive bat-related novelties such as key chains, plastic toys, jewelry, etc.

Bat Cookie Decorating Activity/Snack
Let children decorate their own bat-shaped sugar cookies. Set up a table with paper plates, plastic knives, napkins along with sugar cookies cut in bat shapes, different colors of frosting, sprinkles, candy corn, etc.

Snacks/Drinks

·         Ice cupcakes with black and add bat-shaped edible decorations.

·         Use bat-shaped cookie cutters to make bat sandwiches or pancakes. Using a bat shaped cookie cutter, cut flour tortillas into bat shapes. Lightly brush both sides of each bat shape with oil. Place tortilla shapes on cookie cutter and place in oven. Broil tortilla shapes, flipping chips once when they begin to brown. When brown on both sides, sprinkle lightly with salt or a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

·         Bat grog: Combine 2 cups grape juice, 2 cups lemon-lime soda, lime sherbet, and lemon sherbet. Chill.
